My History of My Cars

I remember the day I got my permit at the age of 14, I wanted to drive so bad but growing up with Asian parents, they thought me driving with just my permit would get me sent to jail for like five years or so if I got caught hahaha! So I had to wait til’ I was 16, so within those two years I was able to save up and get myself my first car!

2002 Honda Civic HX Coupe (Owned 2013)

Bought it for $1,000 from my brother-in-law, and for a first car, it wasn’t too bad… Not only was it my first car, but it was also my first manual transmission car. Oh man, I stalled this thing out plenty of times trying to learn haha! Only downside to this thing was that it had about 267,000 miles! These EM2’s aren’t that popular in the car scene but they are beautiful cars!

Exterior Mods:

Interior Mods:

Just a weighted Skunk 2 shift knob.

Suspension:

Engine Mods:

Nothing too special… I mean it was just a little single wingle xD!

  • Cold Air Intake
  • Ebay Headers w/ custom exhaust piping

Wheels:

Oh man, I really miss these wheels…

  • 16×8 +0 offset, 16×8 Rota Grids
  • 205/40/16 Falkens

And…. that is about it that was all done to my first car! As you can see, not much was really done to it but it still looked clean! That shows to you that you don’t really need to spend that much money to make your car look good! I didn’t really feel the connection and “love” for this car due to the fact that I did not build it myself! This was a hand-me-down vehicle from my brother and he was the one that did all the work… So I actually put this up on Craigslist and sold it for a whopping $2,700 even with 267k miles ;), on to my next car!

1996 Acura Integra LS Coupe (Owned 2014)

Ahh, my VERY first Integra! I was super stoked that I found this teg from a buddy of mine at only a price of $1,700! Downside was, I didn’t expect it to be in such poor condition! I wanted an Integra so bad that I purchased this Integra the same day I sold my EM2… All my family and peers were telling me to wait for a better deal to show up, but I didn’t listen. I should have though, guess it’s true what they say, “good thing comes to those who wait”. I did what I could to it and I still wasn’t satisfied… Lets take a look on how it looked when I bought the car…

I was still at a pretty young age and new to the game at this time and didn’t even care to take closer looks at things before the purchase. I wish I did though because maybe I could have bought a cleaner Integra at that time, but I’m not going to say I regret getting this because it was a really good learning experience for me! I won’t get into details on all the work I put into this car, just know that it was a lot of headaches. Because guess what was holding the shift linkage together…? METAL CLOTHES HANGERS! Still upsets me to this day on how hard it was to undo all the twists and bending lol… anyways, here is how this teg turned out!

Exterior Mods:

  • Type R Front Lip
  • 98-01 Front + Rear End Conversion
  • Type R Spoiler

Interior Mods:

Suspension:

Engine Mods:

None. All stock JDM LS with GSR transmission.

Wheels:

Do those wheels look familiar? Same ones that were on the EM2! I was actually able to sell the EM2 on steelies so most definitely I kept the Rotas for this car :)!

To sum it up with this car, like I stated it was a great learning experience, but I just did not want to keep fixing the issues that kept landing on me due to how poorly the previous owners treated the car. My most memorable moment about this Integra was of course it was my first Integra I owned but also the fact it won “Car of the Month” at my school! So, after contemplating if I should keep the car or not, the whole exhaust decided to give out and fall while I was driving on the highway so I knew I had to give this car up. I ended up doing a straight trade for this next car!

1999 Honda Civic DX Coupe (Owned 2014 on to 2015)

I was always attracted to these things… so I found this Civic posted up for sale/trade, contacted the owner and we both decided that it was a pretty even trade! When I look back at it now, honestly I feel as if I got the better end of the trade because remember how I said I didn’t want the previous owner’s problems to land on me…? Well, the problems landed on the guy that I traded with and he was pretty upset but hey a deal is a deal, no refunds in the car game haha :)! Here she is…!

So many many great memories with this car, it was definitely the most reliable car I’ve driven. It has drove from Georgia to Iowa, back and fourth, twice with no problems whatsoever! I have met many other car enthusiasts that actually became some of my closest friends due to this car. It’s crazy how cars can bring people together and build new relationships, I love it!

So, if you have read my “About Me” section before, you should know that I have a daughter and she was not planned but I had to deal with my consequences. She is the absolutely best thing that has ever happened in my life but unfortunately, she is the reason I had to sell this car…magic wand that makes racecars dissapear - pregnancy test

After selling the Civic and becoming more financially stable, I decided it was time to get another car… I really wanted another Integra so guess what? I got another Integra!

1998 Acura Integra GSR Coupe (Owned 2016 – current)

I’ve always wanted a DOHC VTEC motor so most definitely I was going for a GSR… I was looking around on Craigslist with a $2,000 budget and happened to find a GSR posted for exactly $2,000! Contacted the seller and found out the car was about a good four hour drive away, but I wanted it bad so I got it! I knew from the post that the seller didn’t know much about the car because they spelled VTEC like VTECH. I took advantage of that and lowered the price and actually picked the car up for $1,600!

It has been my baby since January of 2016! I get such a good feeling driving in this thing because it wasn’t as good looking as it is now. A lot of people recognized the transformation and I get a lot of compliments and it feels so good. There are times where I get frustrated at it and want to just sell it but I can’t find it within myself to sell it. My main goal for this vehicle is build it as I build this website. It will become Integra Mods official Integra!

If you would like to keep up to date and follow my build, visit over the “Builds” section and click on “Johnny’s M. Build”! (if no link is available, it is still under construction, will be done very soon, thanks!)

So there you guys have it! That is my history about all the vehicles I have had! I hope this sheds some light on you guys to know that I am not anybody special. I am just a car enthusiast trying to start a movement to get more people to feel passionate about their car and to start modding it! I never had a super clean showroom ready vehicle or a super fast track ready vehicle either. But one day I will definitely have both kind of vehicles, super fast and super clean :). I hope you guys enjoyed reading a little bit about my history, and I hope to get to know you guys some more, so go ahead and comment down below!
